NEW CYCLE OF BUBANJ MEMORIAL PARK ADAPTATION IN NIS HAS STARTED

Memorial Park `Bubanj` - area around monuments and Amphitheatre that are reconstructed thanks to demands of financial resources from project `Cooperation for sustainable cultural tourism in Municipalities Bobov Dol and Palilula` within cross border cooperation Bulgaria –Serbia, visited the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Dzunic with associates. For the work implementation in this phase of the project, after the tender completion, Society MD Gradnja engineering Transport – Nis was selected. It is also planned that the works on the project should be completed by October 15 2012. Dragan Milenkovic, founder and president of the Society MD Gradnja Engineering `Transport` confirmed that all the planned works will be finished within the deadline.
121,666 Euros were allocated for the Municipality of Palilula as a partner to Bobov Dol Municipality on the project Coul Tour- EU from programme of IPA fund. ` As you can see for yourself because of the not conscious citizens and time that passed by it came to the breaking of plates in Amphitheatre, damaging of memorial monuments all way up to destroying life surrounding, accumulation of waste, plastic bottles, bags –said to the interested citizens the president of Municipality Boban Dzunic. In Palilula Municipality we started the initiative that beside `Bubanj` adaptation from the project we should also provide certain video supervision and permanent maintenance of this Memorial Complex. It is necessary that with the support of media we also effect the consciousness of the people so to change certain habits and forbid the accumulation of wild waste locations – emphasized Dzunic. We are expecting the support of the City, authorized Administrations and public communal enterprises, civil societies organizations.
According to Milos Stojadinovic, project manager, in addition to reconstruction of broken seats in the amphitheater benches will be also placed in the wider area of park, trails, memorials within the park areas, reconstruction of fountains and plateau area. This project is being realized in the cross-border program Serbia and Bulgaria and is a part of the activities of the organization of this complex. We hope to obtain more donations because we have space for further work to expand the content of the project. It is necessary to restore the power supply, water supply, lighting, and technical security, set up mobile toilets, develop program contents to attract visitors, tourists, open information and tourist center, stall for video and film screenings.
The overall objective is to promote the development of cultural tourism in cross border region over improving and modernizing of infrastructure which is related to cultural and historical heritage of the Bobov Dol and Palilula and also to increase cultural exchanges between the two Municipalities. Separate objectives are to: Build an amphitheater in Bobov Dol and the reconstruction of the existing amphitheater Memorial Park "Bubanj" in Palilula; Creating sustainable environment for architectural access for people with disabilities; creating cultural exchange and learning about the cultural traditions of both communities, creating conditions for accelerated development cultural tourism in the cross-border region, and developing a guide that describes the cultural and tourist attractions of both municipalities.
Facilities and activities are impressive. In the difficult business conditions and a drastic fall in living standards, these types of projects and donor funding for community development, are precious. Palilula Municipality is a good example of successful work of the and planning of the local government organization.
